Battle of the Peach

Battle of the Peach collapses multiple temporal moments onto a single picture plane, after the manner of mideival European art. The events depicted are the discovery of a peach by a peasant woman, as villagers crowd excitedly around, the theft of the peach, and the massed forces of two huge armies preparing to go to war for the peach. Completed in Paris in 2006, this work is a meditation on ideological struggle between two nations who both claim superior moral attributes: who both claim a certain right (to pêche/péché, peach/peace) and disguise their self serving behind high moral claims.
