Bone Dance

Bone Dance was shown at the Portrait of Wyoming travelling exhibit in Laramie, Casper, Lander, and Jackson Hole WY in 2015.  This rule-based exhibition worked on the premise that two artists would present eachother with pieces to modify or elaborate on. Bone Dance was initiated when Meg Thompson presented Sofi Thanhauser with a plastecine cow skeleton. Bone Dance is composed of scenes of this skeleton dancing in front of, variously, one of Thanhauser’s monoprints and a Lunar Calander, scenes of coal mining from Wyoming’s Powder River Basin, and of Kelly Hatton performing a dance. coal
